March 1-2, 2008 Carriage Hills
At the Crossover campout for the new Webelos coming into the exciting world of scouting, many things happened. First off, obviously, the cub scouts became boy scouts and we had an “Indian” ceremony, where the new scouts were awarded arrows for becoming a new boy scout. We had some troop leaders dress up as the Indians. Following the ceremony the scouts and adults enjoyed eating some cookies and ice cream. Afterwards the scouts played Manhunt, went on the camp playground, or just stayed around the campfire. After some play-time, the new scouts met with scoutmasters and with some experienced scouts to discuss their patrol information. At around 10 o’clock Jacob Brown played TAPS, signaling everyone to start getting ready to sleep in their tents.
The next morning all of the scouts woke up to a nice day; the stubborn ones were woken up with a bugler right beside their tent. Everyone had some breakfast with their patrol, the new scouts eating with the adults. After breakfast the scouts cleaned up camp and put up a flagpole to get ready for the Court of Honor which would be happening there later on in the morning. Once the camp was clean, scouts started arriving for the COH, which had refreshments donated by local stores and bakeries. Following the COH, the scouts that just came for the COH left and the camping scouts broke camp, loaded the trailer, and got ready to leave. |
